For 26 years, Attorney Mark Powell has stood up for victims of wrongdoing and protected the rights of his clients. But for as long as he can remember, he has wanted to serve as District Attorney of Lackawanna County.

Mark got the desire to be a trial lawyer from his father and grandfather, both of whom were trial lawyers in Lackawanna County. Mark’s grandfather, James J. Powell, started the family firm in 1906, but later in his career served as First Assistant District Attorney, prosecuting all the major jury trials in the 1930s.

“Serving the public as First Assistant DA was the most rewarding part of my grandfather’s career,” Mark says. “Like my grandfather, I have the experience, the grit and the integrity to make our community safer.”
